STAYING YOUNG AT ROSEDALE
Photo: Ruth
and Stephanie
For almost 15 years I have been driving down to Fordham University, picking up four college girls and driving them to Rosedale
Center in the Bronx. I love it, because they are full of enthusiasm for their volunteer tutoring. These girls are great to give up part of their day to help younger students.
My other joy is that I get to tutor, too. This is the 3rd year that I am working with the same pupil. She is a
junior now, a pretty Jamaican American. I teach her a little math, a little world history. We do her homework together. She teaches me about teen fashions, and about high school life for a 16
year old. She gives me a lot of love too.
I am 75 years old, but the college volunteers and the girl I tutor make me feel young!
