Crotona
Leadership
& Culture
Club
(summer
course)
at
The Crotona Center
The
summer club is designed for young men who want to better
prepare themselves for the ever increasing challenges they
will face in school and life. In an informal setting, the club
offers intense courses in math, science, history, reading
comprehension, writing and communication. Twice a day, groups
break for a general get-together where students read and
discuss topics from such publications as The Economist
and Wall Street Journal as well as participate in
exciting games designed to further challenge and stimulate
their minds. Through selected readings, discussions and day
trips to museums, parks, and other cultural sites, Crotona
boys receive a well-rounded course in the humanities and
sciences preparing them to be leaders with the self-confidence
to be their own person in the face of peer and cultural
pressure.
The
Club is divided into three groups: one for entering 4th, 5th
and 6th graders, another for entering 7th and 8th graders and
the high school prep group for entering 9th and 10th
graders. Each day is broken into two sessions separated
by a forty-five minute break for physical education and lunch.
The study sessions run from 9:00 - 12:30 and 1:15 - 4:00.
During the last hour, the students may play sports.
