CAP
is a supplemental summer activity that helps youth catch up to their
academic grade level or prepare for the next school year. Its
organic sports league allows boys to mature physically while growing
in the human qualities that make up good sportsmanship. Students
work in small groups and remain with the same staff each day,
allowing for a mentor relationship.
CAP Offers:
Grammar through history — Offers extensive grammar exercises through
comprehension of historical events. Boys also improve their diction.
Character through literature — Focuses on reading comprehension and an analysis of the virtues. The class introduces a sense of what it means to be a good man. Boys improve their writing skills by expressing their
understanding of readings on the virtues.
Writing and public speaking — Writing exercises on expressions and current events provide the opportunity to improve cultural awareness. Oral presentations of these writings improve speech proficiency and foster the development of cohesive argumentation.
Mathematics through science — Offers the refinement of skills previously learned such as decimals, fractions, division, multiplication, etc., as well as word problem-styled science problems. The introduction of scientific
principles demonstrates the utility of math in the real world.
